My husband Kayode (@olopa83) and I, Doyin (@didosld), met in an unusual way. It was on a memorable day in January 2010, while I was on my way back to The States but stopping over in The UK, which was his own final destination. I got to my gate that morning, sat quietly, and as I scanned the room to see the people on same flight with me, I noticed a gentleman staring at me.
At that moment, I wished he sit next to me, and in the middle of my wishful thinking, I heard him said “excuse me, please.”
That drew my attention to him; and after I walked into the plane and sat at my assigned seat, I saw this same young man coming on the plane’s aisle. At that moment, I wished he sit next to me, and in the middle of my wishful thinking, I heard him said “excuse me, please.”
He stood there with a grin on his face. And because I already saw him checking me out, earlier, I believe there wouldn’t be a problem asking him to switch seat with me, so that I can sit at the window seat, which I love to sit. At first, when I asked him for a switch, he said no and I said OK.
He then said he was just joking and allowed me move to the window seat, while he moved to the middle. From there we started talking and talked for the entire 6 hrs flight as if we had known each other for years. We fell asleep on each other’s shoulders, laughed and formed an instantaneous bond.
The rest is history. . . . .
